Hi, Iā€™m Natalie. I live in San Francisco, California.

I write, report, research, produce short films and podcasts, and go down weird, interminable rabbit holes. I am currently the deputy editor at The Believer magazine.

In 2022, I published the feature ARISTOCRAT INC. in the The Believer. The piece was nominated for a National Magazine Award.

It is a story about the early days of Silicon Valley, a pan-Asian crime ring that robbed microchip companies (one of which happened to be owned by my mother), forgotten Asian-American history, and my family's involvement in it.

I have extensive experience at the intersection of true stories and TV, including work on:

  • A League of their Own (Amazon)

  • A Murder at the End of the World (FX)

  • Little America (Apple)
*I produced the original photo essay upon which this show was based, and wrote several stories that became episodes on the show.

  • The OA (Netflix)

I collaborate regularly with TV creators Brit Marling & Zal Batmanglij, and have also worked with film director Lulu Wang.

I graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College with a degree in Visual & Environmental studies.

I was previously a senior story producer & art director
@ Epic Magazine & Epic Digital, a division of Vox Media.

I have also:

  • Reported for 6 weeks from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.

  • Made a book about the fastest supercomputer in the world.

  • Written a profile of a 90-something-year-old Romanoff heir who made shrinky-dinks as his artistic practice.

  • Spent 5 years as a ballkid for professional tennis tournaments.
